Quantus: From Science Fiction to Fortune in 5 Months

Challenge

Post-quantum security sat in crypto’s science-fiction file, somewhere in the 2040s. The technology was moving faster than that and business press was about to arrive. Whoever had a public position by then would set the terms of the conversation; everyone else would be answering it defensively, on someone else’s timeline.

Objectives

– Establish Quantus as the reference point on quantum risk to digital assets
– Carry the topic from crypto trade into business and security press
– Broke the story instead or responding to others’ stories

Approach

When we started in April 2026, crypto talked about quantum as a problem for the 2040s: real, but not urgent. We opened with the client’s own research report. After that, it was steady month-by-month work, bringing his position to the journalists covering the topic and getting him into their stories.

01 · RESEARCH – Turned the company’s own report into the number the industry quotes: $2 trillion secured by quantum-vulnerable cryptography.

02 · LADDER – Took the story up in order, from crypto trade to market and finance surfaces to business press.

03 · FOUNDER – Built Christopher Smith into the named source journalists call when quantum comes up.

04 · LANGUAGE – Made the client the author of the definition, starting with Q-Day in CoinMarketCap’s glossary.

05 · TIMING – Established the position before the business press arrived, so the coverage found a company with answers ready.
